Readers Rule Prediction Page: Cotto/Margarito
Here we are, counting down in anticipation of the 2008 Fight of the Year. Cotto/Margarito. Two consummate warriors, both possessors of A level willpower.
Cotto could snag the top spot on the fantasy Pound for Pound best list with a great showing. The pundits are feeling like his superior ring generalship will prove to be the difference in Las Vegas on Saturday evening, but won’t Margarito be amped up beyond belief? Won’t his motivation level be through the roof? Won’t he fight the fight of his life, after toiling for so many years on the fringes of the biggest, most lucrative bouts?

Margarito will come out fast but will be greeted with accurate jabs and right hands from Cotto. I think Antonio will have his moments and will stun Cotto once or twice but in this highly anticipated, fast paced fight, Cotto will be the better boxer and will win a decision.

Pacquiao by 8th round knockout! har-har! Seriously, Margarito's a real dangerous brawler for Cotto, who can really look bad if Margarito punishes his body. I'd like to see a good knockout in the latter rounds in favor of Margarito. But if this stretches out to 12, it'll be Cotto by UD.

Cotto is gonna do to Margarito the same thing JuanMa did to Daniel Ponce De Leon...margarito can't box...did any one see paul williams give him a boxing lesson?...cotto is an all around fighter...he can box, brawl and patient with his game plan...focus unitl the last round...the problem mexican fighters have is that they forget this is boxing...An art of fighting...they like to stand toe -toe and brawl it out...then when they come across a boxer with the exparience in the art of boxing they loose...so my prediction here says....COTTO WILL TKO MARGARITO LATE IN THE FIGHT....just like i've been saying since day uno...i'll be back later...i need some serious rest...lmfaoooooooooo...holla back ladies....

MARGARITO WILL KO Cotto in a stunning UPSET. People think (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! Or should I say HOPING) after Floyd retired, that Cotto's gonna take his place in the P4P Top List. But the reality of the matter is that, even though he's got some pretty good skills, not great, PRETTY GOOD skills, Cotto's been hurt before and staggered, an that's says a lot. And I'M NOT talking about getting hurt, I'm talking about DEFENSE. Floyd, Roy, Pernell, Leonard, Robinson, those guys were ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE to hit. But not Cotto, you can hit him and he can get hurt, YES, even at 147. Guys like Mosley, who hasn't KO anybody in years (except a punched out Vargas that even my grandmother could KO), and Zab were able to hurt him, I can't imagine what Margarito will do to him since that MF has more power and stamina than both of them combined. People also talk a lot about Cotto's attack to the body, but early in the fight with Zab, Cotto got hurt in the body too. Guess what? Margo also KILLS the body TOO. Plus the Zab fight Cotto won it, not with overall skills, but with overall STRENGHT. Magarito has more strenght, more push. Cotto finishes fights, but with hard breathings. Cotto may try to box, may try use his "skills", may try to impress and finess the work, but at the end it's not going to work. MARGARITO'S strenght will PREVAIL at the end. I'm happy this fight has taken place, finally show the world Cotto's good but nor great. Margarito will score the upset real good, and send the Cotto Fans to crying to mom...................Oh! and about Floyd watching this fight HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please that guy's probably going to be in some club or even sleeping with 2 or 3 girls. See you all Sunday.

Margarito KO 5. If he comes out fast like he did against Cintron he beats Cotto back to Puerto Rico! And for those who think Cotto will KO Margarito you're crazy. Cintron hit him with everything plus the kitchen sink and couldn't even deter Margarito (Margarito was actually smiling!). Once Cotto figures out that he can't hurt Margarito he will start running.

I see Margarito winning by KO in the 9th round. The pundits say Cotto wins with his overall boxing skills but Margarito is too much for him to handle. Once Cotto gets stunned by his upper cut its good night Cotto! Plus Cotto cannot hurt Margarito, I still think that Cintron hits harder than Cotto so if you look at the last fight when was Margarito stunned (answer) never. Either way its going to be a great fight for whatever rounds it lasts. Hope you guys enjoy the fight!

Easy to see this fight going either way, especially when you remember back to Cotto being floored against fighters far inferior to Margarito. I'll go with a bloodied Cotto by decision. He's better fundamentally, goes to the body well and has never tasted defeat. But WOW is Margarito a live dog!

This bout will not be what many think. I expect to make a bundle on Cotto. Margarito is a strong-wind force -- as I've said -- not quite a tornado. He will not be able to handle the hurricane from the Caribbean Islands. With those powerful guns and cannon of Cotto, he is going to have an easy night with potshots and dropping some serious bombs. If three rotten judges, aka three blind mice, don't rear those ugly heads, Cotto wins in a masterpiece, runaway decision or a late-round stoppage. Cotto hasn't past every test......Cotto is a good fighter but people refuse to mention that low blowed win past Zab. The only reason he beat Zab is because of those low blows...Cotto has the potential to beat anyone in the welterweight division but he IS getting way too much credit. And we mention Cotto accuracy and what Margarito can't do....Cotto also leaves himself open ALOT, I MEAN ALOT. So they'll be dropping bumps on each other. Someone will get TKOd. The difference in this fight is the beard. I think Margarito has the P4P best chin in boxing, and that will be his key to victory. He'll absorb a lot of heavy shots from Miguel, especially early, but he'll ultimately prevail as the confidence tide shifts to Antonio. I like Margarito by 9th round stoppage in a war.

this is a tough one to call. ive seen cotto hurt a few times and if margerito gets to him early ,it could be over quick . if the fight go's on into the mid/ later rounds i believe that cottos body work

I think Cotto will use the boxing skills all the way, and i see him winning if he fights like that, scoring a ko late (9-11rd) or by ud.
He'll be in trouble if he doesnt hurt Margarito, (I think that's gonna happen), cause if the mexican can assimilate Cotto's power and knows that early in the fight he'll run over Miguel like he did with his other rivals throwing lots or punches and not caring about receiving one or two blows. Great fight, hard to call. I may be wrong but I dont think Cotto can hurt Antonio judging by the shots he took against Cintron who I think is every bit as big a puncher as Cotto. On the other hand Margarito is also a big hitter and there is still that question mark on Cotto's whiskers. Should be an action packed fight as neither man is particularly elusive. Margarito by KO between rounds 10 and 12. Also if it does go the distance please no bad judging decisions...

Just as I had predicted elsewhere! Margo wins by KO/TKO! He was just too much of a relentless force for the classy and brave Cotto. Cotto hit him with everything he had and by the 6th round, was starting to realize that he wasn't going to be able to put any kind of hurt on Margarito to slow him down. And so his will started to crack! Cotto, the bravest man in boxing, has now found out the hard way, why the "elite" boxing fighters have all backed down from fighting Margarito. It was a very good fight and the stronger, bigger and more determined man won! But hats off to Cotto! He has proven himself to not only belong among the elite of the division, but has shown to be the BRAVEST among them as well. Now for all of those who gave Margarito "NO CHANCE", this is an opportune time to give the Tijuana Tornado his due credit! I would like to see a rematch, but no doubt, the outcome will be the same! Thumbs up! For Margarito and Cotto!
