What Counts Nobody knows how to build a gate like Mike Tyson. From his earliest years in the spotlight as the fistic wunderkind placed on God’s earth to save boxing from its post-Ali self to his latest if not necessarily greatest incarnation as a sideshow fighting four-round exhibitions against one-eyed former sparring partners, Tyson’s always has a way with words – especially the way words can shock, alarm, create controversy. The latest MT brouhaha concerns his expressed desire/willingness to fight a woman, not just any woman, mind you (and, no, not Robin Givens, you wags with good memories), but in this case a tough customer named Ann Wolfe. It appears the general public’s fascination with Mike has not or will not wane and people will fork over good money just to watch the former champ brush his teeth or tie his shoes. That said, if you were part of the Tyson Brain Trust (a double-oxymoron if I ever heard one), would you advise him to fight a woman? |
