What Counts It’s hard enough selecting fighter of the year for 2006, the year just past, although there’s a small battalion of worthy candidates deserving that prize, and even harder selecting fighter of the year for 2007, the year we’re just begun. But if you had a crystal ball given to you by pugilism’s genie in a bottle which enabled you to gaze upon boxing’s future before it occurs—after all the mega-bouts for ’07 have been proposed and dropped, proposed and brought to fruition, after Floyd vs. Oscar, after Miranda vs. Anybody, after Pac-Man vs. Everybody, after Klitschko continues to mop up the heavyweight division—who do you think will be the last man standing, who do you think will have earned the appellation fighter of the year for 2007? |
