What Counts
Those who had questions about Samuel “The Nigerian Nightmare” Peter’s future in the heavyweight division have questions no more. His one-sided domination of James “Lights Out” Toney last week established that Peter is a work in progress who has made tremendous progress courtesy the 24 rounds he went with Toney, and is likely to progress even more in the years to come. With his size, power, and almost perfect record (the single loss to Klitschko notwithstanding), Peter increasingly looks like the future of a division whose titleholders, while gifted in their own right, are old, especially from a fighter’s perspective, whereas Peter is young and likely to remain so for a while, just as he is likely to keep improving. If you were part of Team Peter and could make the Nigerian Nightmare’s next match, which will be nothing less than for the heavyweight championship of the world, with which heavyweight would you like to see him get it on?
